Spirit Maine's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles. 

Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles. 


Your role: Spirit Maine is seeking a professional and hardworking Electromechanical Technician to join our Production Maintenance team. The electro-mechanical technician will work closely with the manufacturing engineering and production teams to troubleshoot, repair, and install manufacturing equipment. Typical tasks will range from troubleshooting control circuits to supporting the installation of fully automated equipment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills with good knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to develop, maintain, test, calibrate, trouble shoot and repair a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and devices.
  • Thoroughly diagnose, and test various types of equipment, including but not limited to high temperature induction furnaces, resistive element heated pressure vessels, and control panels.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, manuals and diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Work with engineering to develop drawings, schematics, diagrams, procedures, and training when needed.
  • Work with vendors on new equipment installation and utilize vendor resources for training
  • Responsibility will include some control panel building or modification
  • Support the Continuous Improvement of processes (Lean) by identifying and help implement actions that support reduced cost, reduced lead time, and improved On Time Delivery
  • Ensure compliance knowledgeable of, and comply with all company policies, practices, and standards
  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental Health and Safety regulations, policies and procedures

What we need from you:

  • 2 Year Technical Degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience with electrical and PLC controls, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to troubleshoot and strong problem solving
  • Basic understanding of MS Office Suite

Preferred:

  • Master Electrician’s License is desired by not required
